Discussion Expectations

Part 1 - Netiquette: Since this is an online course, the student is required to demonstrate respectful and engaged behavior at all times.

The following practices are expected to be adhered to...

Be respectful in all communication with the instructor and peers Edit all work and use clear concise language, avoiding slang terms (Wassup?) and abbreviations (such as "u" instead of "you") Use standard fonts and avoid using caps lock AS IT CAN BE INTERPRETED AS YELLING Limit or avoid use of emoticons like :)  Be cautious when using humor or sarcasm as the tone is sometimes lost and might be misconstrued Don't repeat someone else's post without adding something of your own to it Avoid short replies such as, "I agree." You should elaborate.

Part 2 - Content: Posts should be organized and full of substance (both ideas and evidence to support ideas). You must always reply to at least one peer with thoughtful comments. Sources must be cited properly. Take a close look at the Discussion Scoring Guide to understand how you will be scored for discussion assignments.
